Tips on Organizing a Food Drive

Make your food drive educational:
Have participants visit our website at www.alith-foodpantry.org to learn more about
hunger in our community and the food pantry’s role.  

What should I collect during my food drive?

Food Donations:
Food drive participants should only collect nonperishable food items. The most needed
items include:
• Canned Meats such as tuna, salmon, chicken
• Shelf Stable Entrees, i.e., Hamburger Helper, etc.
• Pasta
• Instant Potatoes
• Stuffing Mix
• Spaghetti Sauce
• Tomatoes, Canned
• Rice
• Breakfast Food – Cereal – whole grain, Oatmeal
• Canned Fruits, no sugar added
• Crackers, whole grain
• Beans, Dry or Canned (Pinto, Navy, Kidney, Northern)
• Vegetables, Canned
• Juice in cans or plastic bottles
• Peanut Butter
• Honey or Jams and Jellies
• Canned or dried soup
• Baby food and rice cereal
• Pet food

The food pantry also welcomes donations of personal care items such as:
• Shampoo/Conditioner
• Soap
• Toilet Paper
• Disposable Razors/Shaving Cream
• Deodorant (men's & women's)
• Toothbrushes & Toothpaste
• Laundry Detergent
• Diapers
• Feminine hygiene products
